会社を辞めたあとは、「もう自由だ！」と思いたくなるかもしれません。しかし、日本で働く外国人には、退職後すぐにやらなければならない大切な手続きがあります。とくに、在留資格の届出と保険・年金の切り替えは、放置するとトラブルの原因になります。
After quitting your job, you might feel a sense of relief. But if you’re a foreigner working in Japan, there are important procedures you must complete immediately—especially related to your visa, health insurance, and pension.
【14日以内に入管へ届け出を】
「技人国」や「特定技能」など、在留資格が勤務先に紐づいている場合は、会社を辞めた日から14日以内に「所属機関等に関する届出」を入管に提出する必要があります。これを怠ると、将来のビザ更新や転職先の許可に影響が出る可能性も。
If your visa status is tied to your job—such as Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services or Specified Skilled Worker—you must notify Immigration within 14 days of leaving the company. Failing to do so may affect future visa renewals or job changes.
【健康保険は自動で切り替わらない】
会社を辞めると、それまでの「社会保険（健康保険・厚生年金）」の資格は自動で喪失します。保険証は会社に返却し、今後は「国民健康保険」へ切り替える必要があります。住所地の市区町村の役所で手続きを行いましょう。
When you leave your job, your social insurance (health and pension) coverage ends. You must return your insurance card to the company and switch to National Health Insurance by applying at your local city or ward office.
【年金も加入し直しが必要】
厚生年金から国民年金への切り替えも必要です。60歳未満の方は、市区町村で国民年金の加入手続きを行ってください。手続きをしないと未納扱いとなり、将来の年金や在留資格更新に悪影響を与える場合があります。
You must also switch from Employees’ Pension Insurance to National Pension. If you’re under 60, go to your local city hall to register. Failure to do so could lead to unpaid contributions and may affect future pensions or visa renewals.
【雇用保険の手続きも早めに】
雇用保険の受給資格がある人は、離職票を受け取ってハローワークで失業給付の手続きを行いましょう。退職理由によっては受給までに時間がかかることがあるため、なるべく早めに動くことが大切です。
If you are eligible for unemployment insurance, bring your separation notice to Hello Work and apply for benefits. The waiting period may vary depending on the reason for leaving, so act quickly.
【外国人だからこそ「期限」が重要】
日本の制度は「期限厳守」が基本です。14日以内の届け出や、21日以内の任意継続手続きなど、見落としが命取りになることも。分からないことがあれば、入管・役所・ハローワーク・行政書士などに早めに相談しましょう。
In Japan, deadlines matter. Failing to meet the 14-day or 21-day limits for certain procedures can create serious issues. If you’re unsure, consult Immigration, your local city office, Hello Work—or a professional administrative scrivener.
