「外国人は税金を免除されているんでしょ？」
そんな言葉をかけられたとき、胸が痛くなります。
私たちは、日本で働き、日本と同じ物価の中で暮らし、日本人と同じように毎月の給与から税金を引かれています。
それなのに、「得をしている」「ずるい」といった目で見られることがあります。
実際には、所得税も住民税も、年末調整も、何もかも初めての中で、一生懸命調べながらやっています。

We work in Japan, live with the same cost of living, and have taxes deducted from our salaries just like Japanese workers.

扶養控除を使ったら「ズルい」と言われた
私たち外国人も、母国にいる家族を支えるために働いています。
だから、制度上認められている扶養控除を使うことがあります。
毎月、生活費を送金し、証明書も出して、正しい手続きで申告しています。
それでも、「国外の家族を扶養に入れるなんて、日本人にはできないのに」「それは抜け道だ」という声が聞こえることもあります。
でも、それは違います。日本人だって、制度に当てはまれば同じように控除を受けられるのです。
私たちだけが特別に優遇されているわけではありません。
“We work to support our families back home, so we use the dependent deductions that are legally allowed.
We send money regularly, submit the required documents, and file everything properly.”
“Still, some people say, ‘You can deduct overseas family? That’s not fair to Japanese.’
But that’s not true. Japanese citizens can also claim these deductions if the conditions are met.
We’re not receiving special treatment—we’re following the same rules.”
誤解が差別に変わる瞬間
「外国人は税金を払っていない」という言葉は、やがて「外国人はいらない」という空気を生んでしまいます。
制度の知識不足から生まれた誤解が、偏見や差別につながってしまう。
私たちの子どもが、学校で「あなたの親は税金払ってないんでしょ」と言われたという話も聞きます。
とても悲しく、悔しいことです。
“When people keep saying ‘foreigners don’t pay taxes,’ it creates a negative atmosphere—like foreigners aren’t welcome.
Misunderstandings caused by lack of knowledge become the root of prejudice and discrimination.
I’ve even heard stories of children being told at school, ‘Your parents don’t pay taxes, right?’ That’s heartbreaking and unfair.”
私たちもこの社会の一員です
私たちは、ただ「日本に住まわせてもらっている」だけではありません。
税金を納め、ルールを守り、地域で働き、暮らしています。
「外国人労働者は税金免除されている」という誤解がなくなって、もっと正しく見てもらえる社会になってほしいと願っています。
“We’re not just ‘being allowed to live’ in Japan—we pay taxes, follow the rules, and work and live in the community.
We hope people will stop assuming we’re tax-exempt and start seeing us more fairly and accurately.”
